Q: How often should I have my oil changed?
Every 3 months/3000 miles or your
manufacturer’s recommendation.
Q: If I have a new car and I want to take it to an
independent shop (not the dealer) for routine repairs will it void my
manufacturer’s warranty?
No, it is your right as a consumer to
have your vehicle maintained at the repair facility of your choice. The Right to
Repair Act will help you and your service facility by ensuring the vehicle’s
repair information is made available to the independent repair facility.
Currently much of this info is being monopolized by the manufacturer’s. See our
link to Right To Repair Act website.
Q: How do I know if my vehicle needs the state of NH’s
emission test at state inspection time?
If your vehicle is a 1996 model year or
newer it will be connected (plugged in) to the NH OBD Test computer. If you have
a CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON or recently cleared the light you will most likely fail
this portion of the test. When the vehicle passes the safety inspection but
fails emission test you will have a 60 day grace period to repair the emission
deficiency. See our link to NH DMV website.
